Iran ranks fourth globally in date production
Tehran – Iran produced 1.182 million tons of dates in 2024, accounting for around 12 percent of global date production and placing the country among the world’s leading producers.
Global date production reached approximately 9.9 million tons in 2024, with Iran contributing 1.182 million tons, according to the figures, according to a report carried by the official website of the Ministry of Agriculture.
Dates are considered a strategic agricultural commodity in Iran, supported by the country’s diverse climate, agricultural expertise and production capacity.
The crop also plays an important role in agricultural exports, rural employment and food security, strengthening its significance to Iran’s agricultural economy.
